Ouachita Baptist women's tennis picked up its first victory of the season Saturday with a 5-2 win over Oklahoma Baptist at Ward Tennis Center. The Tigers swept the doubles point and picked up singles wins from
Austynn Crocker,
Shelly Davilus,
Clarisa Valenzuela and
Olivia Gaston.
In doubles, Crocker and
Makeilah Turner picked up a 6-4 win on Court 1, Davilus and
Taylor Hansard won 6-2 on Court 2, and Valenzuela and Gaston cruised to a 6-1 win on Court 3.Â
Crocker defeated Gabrielly Lamas 7-6 (8), 6-3 on Court 3 in singles. Davilus earned a 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 win on Court 4. On Court 5, Valenzuela defeated Rylie Helm 6-0, 6-0. Gaston beat Elyce Clark 6-0, 6-0 on Court 6.Â
Crocker improved to 5-5 on the year with her fourth straight singles victory. Valenzuela's win was her third in her last four matches. Gaston ran her record to 3-3 on the year. Davilus picked up her first win of the season.Â
Ouachita picked up its first Great American Conference win since 2013.
