Ouachita Baptist baseball broke out for seven runs in the fifth inning of Game 2 of a doubleheader at East Central in a 7-3 win. The visiting Tigers took advantage of three errors by the home Tigers in the fifth-inning rally.
ECU took an early lead on a two-run homer in the first inning. Ouachita starting pitcher
Cooper Timmons settled in after that, holding the home nine to one hit the rest of the day, finishing with 10 strikeouts in 5.0 innings of work to earn the win. The sophomore from League City, Texas recorded six of his 10 strikeouts in the first two innings.
Ouachita's offense through the first four innings consisted of a pair of singles. That changed in the fifth.
Jaxon Chaney led off with a base hit to left field.
Simmons Sowell reached on an error.
Pierce Mitchum's single loaded the bases with nobody out.
Blake Tubbs drove in Ouachita's first run of the game with a pinch-hit sacrifice fly.
Tyler Riebock followed with an RBI single to tie the game. Mitchum scored the go-ahead tally when
CW Schrader reached on an error.
Cade Burris drove in a pair with a single to left and took second on an error by the ECU left fielder. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on
Cole Kelly's squeeze bunt to cap off the seven-run rally.Â
Ben Miller provided 1.2 innings of one-run relief of Timmons before
Carter Wade came in to shut down an East Central rally and wrap up the win.
