Reddies Win Tight Contest To Take Series

THE RUNDOWN

Henderson State edged out Ouachita Baptist 3-2 in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday at Rab Rodgers Field. The Tigers took an early 2-0 lead, but the Reddies fought back with three runs to take the series.

Ouachita's first run of the game came when Tyler Riebock crossed the plate when Louis Steen grounded into a double play. Jaxon Chaney drove in the second run of the inning with a two-out single that plated Cade Burris.

Henderson scratched across single tallies in the second, fourth and sixth innings to hand Cooper Timmons a hard-earned loss. The sophomore righthander went 8.0 innings with three runs allowed, striking out three batters and walking one with eight hits allowed.

Ouachita put the potential tying run on base in the seventh and eighth innings, but could not push across an equalizing run.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

 - Henderson claimed the season series between the two teams with its third win of the year over the Tigers
 - Harding's loss in its first game of the day allowed the Tigers to remain three games behind the Bisons for eighth place in the Great American Conference
 - Timmons' 8.0-inning start was the longest outing of his career

BY THE NUMBERS
