ARKADELPHIA – An extra five minutes was needed, but the Ouachita Baptist University men's basketball team came away with a 79-72 overtime victory over Arkansas Tech on Saturday at home.
The Tigers (4-11, 2-7 GAC) controlled most of the game, leading for just over 36 of the 45 minutes. Ouachita's largest lead was its 12-point halftime advantage of 40-28. The Tigers closed out the half on a 8-2 run in the final 2:36.
The Wonder Boys (5-6, 2-3 GAC) rallied in the second half to outscore the Tigers 35-23 to force overtime. Tech slowly chipped away at the Ouachita lead and forced the third tie score of the game with five minutes remaining in regulation at 59-all.
The Tigers came out on fire in the overtime period, scoring eight straight in the first two minutes. Ouachita held at least a four-point lead the rest of the way to pick up its first home conference win of the year.
Tylar Haynes led all scorers with a career-high 22 points on a 9-of-14 shooting performance. 
Ma'Darius Hobson added 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds. 
Alex Scariolo also had 15 points. 
Larenz Nero had a productive all-around game with nine points, six rebounds, and six assists.
Ouachita shot right at 50 percent from the field in the win (30-for-60), and was nearly perfect at the foul line, making 15-of-16 shots.
