SHAWNEE, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University men's basketball team rallied from down 17 but came up just short in a 60-57 road loss to Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday night.
After trailing by 10 at halftime, Ouachita (4-14, 2-10 GAC) found itself down by 17 with 13:40 remaining in the second half. The Tigers responded with a 15-1 scoring run over the next six minutes to trim that deficit down to three. From that point, the Tigers kept the game within reach and even had a chance to take the lead with one minute remaining down by one.
The Bison (12-6, 9-3 GAC) held the Tigers scoreless in the final 50 seconds. Ouachita had a good look for a chance to force overtime, but
Ma'Darius Hobson's shot rattled in and out to seal the win for the Bison and keep Oklahoma Baptist at the No. 1 spot in the Great American Conference standings.
Hobson led the Tigers with 18 points.
Tylar Haynes trailed closely with 15.
Ouachita makes the short trip to the Oklahoma City metro to take on Southern Nazarene this Saturday. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. in Bethany.
