Ouachita (8-0) enters the game as one of 11 remaining unbeaten teams in the nation at the NCAA Division II level. The Tigers most recently earned a 63-31 win over Southern Arkansas this past Saturday at the Murphy USA Classic in El Dorado. A win over ECU on Thursday would clinch at least a share of the 2022 GAC championship, which would be Ouachita's sixth conference championship in the 11-year history of the league.
Other than undefeated Ouachita, East Central (6-2) is arguably the hottest team in the league coming into Thursday night's game. ECU started the year with back-to-back losses to Harding and Arkansas Tech, but has since posted six consecutive wins, including a 42-28 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State this past Saturday at home. The orange-and-black Tigers are currently in a three-way tie for second place in the league with Henderson State and Harding.
