ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University women's soccer remained near the top of the Great American Conference standings with a 3-1 win over East Central University on Sunday at home.
Jamie Fowler led Ouachita (7-4-1, 4-1-1 GAC) with a two-goal performance, vaulting her to the team lead in goals this season with six. It was the first multi-score game of her Ouachita career. She scored the game-winner in the 70th minute off of deflections from two other Ouachita shots. Her second goal finalized the scoring with a header into the net in 84th minute from the assist of
Sydni Perry. It was Perry's first assist of the season and ninth of her career.
East Central (2-8-3, 2-4-1 GAC) opened the scoring with a goal in the 17th minute, was the only score of the first half.
Ouachita's
Fernanda Valencia scored the equalizer in the 50th minute from the double assist of
Paige Owens and
Gracen Turner. It was Valencia's third goal of the season, Owens' second assist of the year, and Turner's third assist of the year.
Michele Snow earned the win and played the full 90 minutes in goal for Ouachita, picking up five saves on ECU's six shots on goal and 14 total shots.
Ouachita sits in second place in the GAC with three weeks remaining in the regular season. The team travels to Oklahoma next week to take on Southern Nazarene on Thursday and Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday.
