ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University women's basketball team fell to Angelo State on Saturday at home by a final score of 80-72.
After a close first half with Ouachita leading 37-36 at the halftime break, the Rambelles (3-1) came out with a big third period, outscoring the Tigers (1-1) 24-13 in the frame to gain a double-digit lead going into the fourth.
The Tigers outscored the Rambelles 22-20 in the fourth period, and thanks to a 9-0 run, cut what was 15-point deficit down to just four with 2:42 remaining. However, ASU held on for the win after scoring five of the final six points of the game.  
Ouachita finished the shooting 48 percent from the field, but struggled at the free throw line, making only 10 of 21 attempts. The Tigers also committed 26 turnovers, which led to 30 points on the other end for the Rambelles.
Madeleine Tipton led the Tigers with 19 points on an 8-for-12 shooting night. 
Makayla Miller added 16 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
The Tigers are set for their first road trip of the season next Tuesday, November 22 to take on Mississippi College. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. in Clinton.
