FORT SMITH, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University Men's Basketball dropped its first game of the UAFS Thanksgiving Classic, falling 69-58 to the Eagles of Oklahoma Christian.
Ouachita started the game off strong, opening on an 8-0 run and holding a lead for a majority of the first half. Oklahoma Christian tied the game at 18-18 with just over eight minutes left in the first half and gained a lead less than a minute later. The Tigers would keep it close, only trailing by three points at halftime. For the second half, the Eagles would grow their lead and hold it to the end margin of 11 points in favor of OC.
Offensively, the Tigers had three different players score double-digit points. Leading the way was
Reggie Martin with 14, followed by
Ma'Darius Hobson with 11 and
Alex Scariolo with 10.
Tylar Haynes and Marvin Williams-Dull were the top rebounders on the afternoon, grabbing six and five boards respectively. Williams-Dunn also led the Tigers in assists with four.
Haynes stood out on the defensive side of the ball, racking up three blocks and two steals.
The Tigers will look to bounce back tomorrow night against the Lions of the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith.
