BRAZIEL, HANSON REPEAT AS GAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Ouachita Baptist University freshmen volleyball players Riley Braziel and Courtney Hanson have each earned their second respective Great American Conference player of the week honor of the 2022 season after helping the Tigers finish the regular season with a pair of wins.

Braziel has been named the league's co-offensive player of the week. Hanson has been named the setter of the week. The duo led the Tigers to a 3-0 win over Arkansas Tech on Senior Night and then a 3-1 win over Southern Arkansas on the road in the regular season finale. The undefeated week helped Ouachita (18-11, 10-6 GAC) earn the No. 4 seed in the upcoming GAC Championship Tournament to be held in Shawnee, Oklahoma this weekend.

Braziel led the GAC in total kills over the week with 29 and ranked second in kills per set at 4.14. She also contributed to Ouachita's defensive efforts, leading the team and ranking fifth in the league with average of five digs per set over the course of the two victories. The Decatur, Texas native started the week with 14 kills and seven digs against Tech, and then added 15 kills and a career-high 28 digs in the win over SAU.

Hanson led the league in assists with 84 for an average of 12 per set. The Arlington, Texas native had 37 assists against Tech and 47 against SAU, giving her 10 matches this season with at least 40 assists and 19 with at least 30.

The Tigers open the GAC Tournament against No. 5 seed East Central on Thursday, November 10. First serve is set for 5:30 p.m. at FireLake Arena in Shawnee.
