COLE BECOMES OUACHITA'S FIRST TWO-TIME FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN

WACO, Texas – Ouachita Baptist University senior running back TJ Cole has earned first team All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Association for his efforts in the 2022 season.

Cole's honor marks the first time a player from Ouachita has ever earned first-team All-America honors in more than one season. He was also a first team selection by the AFCA in 2021.

The Texarkana, Texas native wrapped up his collegiate career in record-breaking fashion, while leading the Tigers to an undefeated regular season, a Great American Conference championship, and an appearance in the NCAA Division II playoffs.

Individually, Cole finished the season with new Ouachita single-season records in rushing yards (1,672) and rushing touchdowns (26). He also had a pair of passing touchdowns this season. He had 10 games with at least 100 rushing yards, four games with at least 150 yards, and two games with at least 200 yards. His best performance this season came in a 63-31 win over Southern Arkansas in the Murphy USA Classic, when he totaled 230 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns to outscore Ouachita's opponent all by himself.

Overall for his career, Cole ends his time as a Tiger with the school's all-time record in rushing touchdowns (49) and ranks second in career rushing yards (3,986).

The AFCA All-America honor this season goes along with a unanimous selection to the All-GAC First Team, three GAC player of the week honors, one national player of the week honor, and a spot on the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association All-Region First Team. Cole is also a finalist for the 2022 Harlon Hill Award, presented to the best player in college football at the D2 level.
