Box Score MONTICELLO, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University women's basketball team finished the 2022 portion of the schedule on Saturday with a 77-65 road loss to the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
The Tigers (4-4, 1-3 GAC) dominated the opening period 25-10, and held their largest lead of 17 after getting a bucket in the first minute of the second period. However, the Blossoms (4-6, 1-3 GAC) started chipping away in the second period by outscoring the Tigers 19-10 to give Ouachita a 35-29 lead at the halftime break.
In the second half, UAM shot 63 percent from the field, including an 11-for-14 performance in the third period that led to a lead change in the final three minutes. The Tigers improved on their third period shooting (25 percent) to hit 43 percent of their shots in the fourth period, but UAM maintained its pace to keep Ouachita at bay.
The Tigers were led by
Makayla Miller and
Laney Mears with 14 points each. Miller added seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals to her final totals.
Madeleine Tipton finished with 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Grayson Fairless also reached double digits in scoring with 11 points.
Following the holiday break, the Tigers will be back in action with a trip to Oklahoma to take on Southern Nazarene on January 5 and then Oklahoma Baptist on January 7.
