ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University men's soccer game opened the 2022 season on Thursday at home with a 1-1 tie against Christian Brothers.
Ouachita's first goal of the season came in the second minute when
David Stankovic took advantage of an open net after the Christian Brothers' goalkeeper vacated the box. It was Stankovic's eighth career goal.
The Bucs equalized the score in the 10th minute when CBU's Lucho Galizzi deflected a clearing kick near the net to punch in the close-range score.
CBU controlled possession for 60 percent of the game, resulting in a 32-6 margin in total shots and a 11-4 margin in shots on goal.
Ebon Jordan led the Tigers with four total shots, three on goal.
Armani Atilano went the distance in goal, giving up just one goal on 32 shots while collecting a career-high 10 saves.
The Tigers are back in action on Sunday at home against Union. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. following the Ouachita women's game that starts at noon against Southwest Baptist.
