ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University women's soccer team opened the 2022 season on Thursday at home with a 1-0 loss to Northeastern State.
Neither team found the net in the first half with the Riverhawks controlling the ball for the majority of the period. Possessions evened out in the second half with NSU ending with a 54-46 percent margin. NSU finished with a 21-15 margin in total shots.
The lone score of the game came early in the second half in the 50th minute off the left foot of NSU's Sydney Taylor, set up by a long pass from teammate Hayley Garcia with the assist.
Jamie Fowler led the Tigers with four total shots. Ouachita was held to two shots on goal, one coming from
Gracen Turner, and the other from
Mia Paladini off the bench.
The Tigers are back in action on Sunday at home against Southwest Baptist. Kickoff is set for noon at Kluck Field.
