ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University volleyball team started the 2022 season with a convincing 3-0 win over LeMoyne-Owen College on Friday at home in the Reddie-Tiger Invitational.
Final game scores were 25-10, 25-10, and 25-7 in favor the Tigers to snap a two-year losing skid in season openers.
Ouachita plays again on Friday at 5:30 p.m. against Arkansas-Fort Smith.
Leading the way for the Tigers in the win over LOC was
Kayla Steinmeyer with 11 kills and a .421 hitting percentage for her 15th career double-digit performance kills.
Four freshman made their collegiate debut for the Tigers with
Riley Braziel turning in nine kills and a .467 percentage,
Courtney Hanson leading the assist category with 32,
Emily Adams collecting five kills, and
Haley Fairchild totaling three kills and no errors.
Karli Ferguson led the front-row defense with four blocks, while
Lexie Castillow paced the back row with 10 digs.
