DENTON, Texas – The Ouachita Baptist University women's soccer team closed out the non-conference portion of the 2022 schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 road win over Texas Woman's University.
All three goals came in the first half with Ouachita (3-3) taking an early 1-0 lead on a goal by senior
Jaymee Dotson in the sixth minute, assisted by
Amerie Thomas. It was Dotson's third goal of the season and 23rd career goal. The Princeton, Texas native is now tied for fifth all-time at Ouachita in goals scored. Thomas' assist marked her first collegiate points scored.
The Pioneers (0-4-1) equalized the score with a goal in the 21st minute.
Ouachita answered in the 26th minute, getting the game-winner from senior
Jamie Fowler, her third goal of the season and second game-winner. It was her 12th career goal.
Although the Tigers had an edge on the scoreboard, the Pioneers had a notable advantage in total shots (25-10) and shots on goal (9-4). Two Ouachita defenders and goalkeeper
Michele Snow went the distance in the win. Snow came up with nine saves.
The Tigers open Great American Conference play on Thursday, September 15 on the road against Harding. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. in Searcy.
