ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University women's soccer team lost a Great American Conference contest at home on Thursday afternoon to Oklahoma Baptist by a final score of 5-3.
The Tigers saw their 3-0 lead disappear after the Bison scored late in the first half and four unanswered times in the second half to earn the come-from-behind win.
Jaymee Dotson opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with her fourth goal of the season and 24th of her career, this time on a penalty kick after
Fernanda Valencia drew a foul inside the box.
The Tigers added another goal in the 31st minute off a corner kick by
Ashlyn Vana, headed in on the right side by
Abbey Moore. It was Moore's first career goal and Vana's first career assist.
Ashton Inman gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead in the 42nd minute, taking the ball from almost midfield all the way to the net in the 31st, maneuvering around the Bison goalkeeper and two defenders to find the net. It was Inman's first goal of the season, second of her career.
The Bison took over from there, getting a goal on a penalty kick in the 42nd minute to give Ouachita a 3-1 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Bison scored in the 51st, 54th, 63rd, and 68th minutes, respectively. Katie Fowler turned in a hat trick for the Bison, scoring three of their five goals.
Oklahoma Baptist held a 22-16 lead in total shots, but both teams managed 10 shots on goal.
The Tigers are back at home on Saturday, hosting Southern Nazarene for a Great American Conference game starting at 2 p.m.
