ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University men's soccer team concluded its season-opening four-game homestand on with a 3-1 loss to Mississippi College at Kluck Field.
It was a defensive battle for most of the first half, except for the first score from the Choctaws (3-0) in the 30th minute.
After holding that 1-0 lead at the halftime break, MC took advantage of a foul inside the box for a penalty kick goal just 30 seconds in the second half to take a 2-0 lead. Ouachita goalkeeper
Armani Atilano got a touch on the kick, but it bounced into the net for the two-score Choctaw advantage.
The Choctaws went up 3-0 in the 51st minute.
Ouachita got one of goal back in the 66th minute on a successful penalty kick by
Bobby Boone for his first goal of the season, which was his third career goal. It was the first goal scored against the Choctaws of the young season.
The Tigers (0-2-2) head to Texas next week for Thursday night matchup against UT-Tyler and a Saturday afternoon contest at Dallas Baptist.
