MONTEVALLO, Alabama & CLEVELAND, Mississippi – The Ouachita Baptist University Men's and Women's swim & dive teams saw a successful weekend of meets, each going 2-0 against the University of Montevallo on Thursday and Friday but falling to Delta State University in a separate meet on Saturday.
The squads left their mark on Montevallo, setting a total of nine pool records and tying a tenth record at the SAC Natatorium in Alabama.
In the first meet against Montevallo, the Tigershark Women dominated the Falcons, winning all eight events on Thursday. This domination brought about the final score of 113 to 35. The day was highlighted with pool records by
Kate McCown in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 10:59.2,
Keilee Holcomb in the 100 Butterfly (58.34) and
Emma Ballantyne in the 400 Individual Medley (4:49.09).
The other first place finishers for Ouachita were:
Friday brought similar success for the women, winning seven of the 10 events for a final score of 114.5-71.5. Day two saw three more pool records either set or tied by the Tigershark women. They were
Kate McCown in the 500 Free with a time of 5:19.68, Holcomb in the 1650 Free with a time of 18:15.06, and the relay squad of Del Angel, Christenson,
Jameson Tankersley, and Henderson in the 400 Free Relay who tied with the Montevallo squad with a time of 3:48.79.
The other top finishers on day two were:
- Holcomb in the 100 Backstroke (59.58)
- Russo in the 100 Free (56.88)
- Montgomery in the 200 Backstroke (2:13.27)
- Montgomery, Ballantyne, Holcomb, and Christenson in the 400 Medley Relay (4:10.72)
The meet at Delta State did not fall in favor of Ouachita, but the women put up a fight, winning six events and finding their way into the top three in several others, but ultimately losing to the Okra by a score of 169-127. The winners for the Delta State meet were:
- McCown in the 1000 Free (10:53.32) and the 500 Free (5:18.33)
- Holcomb in the 200 Free (1:56.72), the 100 Free (53.44), and the 200 IM (2:09.53)
- Ballantyne in the 200 Breaststroke (2:30.04)
The Diving squad saw success at Delta as well.
Abigayl Conard recorded a season-high 185.70 on the one-meter board, placing fourth in the event.
Isabella Howell took sixth in both the one meter and three meter boards.
The men saw similar success, winning four day one events enroute to taking down Montevallo by a score of 85-63 on Thursday. Day one's meet was highlighted by a pool record being set by
Tristan Richert in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 1:58.55.
The other top finishers for day one were:
Day two saw more success for the Tigershark Men, as they defeated the Falcons by a score of 107-77, winning six events in the process. Friday's meet was highlighted by three more pool records being set by Ouachita. They were
Miles Schulze in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 58.47,
Tyler Andruss in the 1650 free with a time of 16:54.63, and the 400 Free Relay squad of
Sam Ragsdell,
Elijah Christenson, Pena Cristobal, and
Angel Medina with a time of 3:13.87.
The other top finishers for day two were:
The men shared a similar fate as the women at Delta State, falling to the Statesmen by a score of 165.5-134.5. The men's squad did win five events on Saturday and found themselves in the top three in several others.

Samuel Woods qualified for the NCAA Championships based on his six dive, one meter performance at Delta State with a score of 286.19. In order to qualify for Nationals, one must record two qualifying scores from separate meets, and Woods did just that as his first qualifying score came back in November.
The next meet for both squads will be the home edition of the Battle of the Ravine against Henderson State on Friday, January 27 at Wagonner Pool.
