EVANSVILLE, Indiana – Ouachita freshman
Stefan Duca shined on the final day of the 2026 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday with a record-breaking performance in the 200 backstroke.
The Oradea, Romania native broke his own school record on Saturday in the 200 backstroke preliminaries with a time of 1:44.73. He finished second in his heat and 11th overall in the morning session to punch his ticket to the consolation final and clinch second team All-America honors.
In the night session, Duca again finished second in his heat and bumped up to a final 10th place finish overall with a time of 1:45.07.
Also in the night session, the men's 400 freestyle relay team of Duca,
Ian Redman Aguilar,
Sam Ragsdell, and
James Savarese turned in an All-American performance, finishing in 16th with a time of 2:57.25.
Duca earned seven points for his performance. The relay team earned two points.
