Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

TIGERS TALLY GAC ROAD WIN OVER SOUTHEASTERN

DURANT, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University women's basketball team jumped out to an early lead and never trailed on Thursday night to pick up a Great American Conference road victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State University by a final score of 71-62.

The Tigers (8-8, 5-7 GAC) scored the game's first seven points before the Savage Storm (4-13, 2-10 GAC) managed to change the zero in its column on the scoreboard.

Ouachita outscored Southeastern in three of the four periods. During Southeastern's 22-20 scoring advantage in the third quarter, the Storm used a 14-2 scoring run to force the game's first tie score since the opening tipoff. That came at the 3:25 mark of the third to make it 41-all. Ouachita regained the lead on its next possession and held that lead for the remainder of the game.

The Tigers led by as much as 14 points midway through the fourth quarter, which would have been higher if it weren't for 19 points scored by Southeastern off of 25 Ouachita turnovers.

Ouachita turned in its fifth game of the season with at least a 50 percent shooting performance, hitting right at 50 percent (27-for-54) Thursday night against Southeastern.

Madeleine Tipton led all scorers with 18 points in her 21 minutes off the bench. Makayla Miller added 15 points, while leading the team in rebounds (nine), steals (five), and assists (three). Laney Mears and Grayson Fairless also reached double-digits in scoring with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Ouachita is back in action this Saturday on the road against East Central, looking for its first three-game win streak of the season. Saturday's tipoff is set for 1 p.m. in Ada, Oklahoma.
