ADA, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University women's basketball team finished its road trip in eastern Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon with a 72-61 loss to East Central University.
After Ouachita (8-9, 5-8 GAC) held its largest lead of seven points early in the third period, East Central (7-10, 4-9 GAC) rallied for an 11-2 run to take a lead in the final three minutes of the period. The orange Tigers picked that rally back up in the fourth period, shooting 64 percent from the field in the final 10 minutes.
ECU hovered around a double-digit lead for the final four minutes of the game and went up by its final 11-point margin in the final seconds. Ouachita trimmed that deficit down to seven twice in the final minutes, but ECU's shooting and a game total of 26 turnovers by the purple Tigers prevented a comeback.
Prior to ECU taking control in the fourth period, the game featured 12 lead changes and 11 tied scores.
Makayla Miller led Ouachita with 11 points, six assists, and four steals, while also adding in five rebounds.
Heidi Robinson also reached double-digits in scoring with 10 points.
Grayson Fairless led all players with eight rebounds.
Abbey Harrison added nine points in just eight minutes off action off the bench.
Ouachita is back in action on Thursday, February 2 at home against Oklahoma Baptist. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Bill Vining Arena.
