SHAWNEE, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University women's basketball team wrapped up its weekend road trip to face the top two teams in the Great American Conference on Saturday with an 89-65 loss to Oklahoma Baptist University.
After a back-and-forth first period, the Tigers (4-6, 1-5 GAC) found themselves in a 19-point hole with midway through the second period, but bounced back by outscoring the Bison (10-2, 6-0 GAC) 23-3 in the final six minutes to hold a one-point lead of 40-39 at the halftime break.
Ouachita's run did not carry over into the second half. The Bison outscored the Tigers 22-10 in the third period and 28-15 in the fourth to remain unbeaten in conference games and tied for first place in the league with Southern Nazarene.
Madeleine Tipton led the Tigers with 17 points, followed by
Makayla Miller with 12 and
Heidi Robinson with 11.
The Tigers are back at home for their next three games, starting with Southwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday, January 12. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Bill Vining Arena.
