ALVA, Oklahoma – The Ouachita women's soccer team took its longest road trip of the season on Wednesday to Alva, Oklahoma resulting in a scoreless draw against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
NWOSU (1-6-7, 0-3-5 GAC) was the clear aggressor in the first half with a 14-4 advantage in total shots. The offense flipped in the second half with Ouachita taking more than twice as many shots as the Rangers. Overall, NWOSU led the match 18-13 in total shots and 10-6 in shots on frame.
Ouachita (7-1-6, 4-1-3) had the final crack at finding the net with a shot from
Hattie Gardner in the 89th minute, which was saved by the NWOSU goalkeeper.
The Tiger defense held the Rangers to just two shots on goal, the last coming in the 60th minute.
Michele Snow ended up with a season-high 10 saves in her eighth shutout of the season.
With the tie, the Tigers hold on to their one-point margin for first place in the GAC standings with four games remaining in the regular season. Next up is a home game this Saturday against Southwestern Oklahoma State. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. at Kluck Field.
