RUSSELLEVILLE, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University men's cross country team placed fourth at the 2023 Great American Conference Championships on Saturday morning.
The Tigers finished fourth overall out of eight total teams at the conference championship meet.
The Tigers' top runner was
Gabriel Greenwich, who placed 11
th in the men's 8K race with a time of 25:18.7. Greenwich's top 20 performance earned the freshman Second Team All-GAC honors.
Two other Tigers received Second Team All-GAC honors with top 20 finishes, they were
Whit Lawrence who placed 13
th with a time of 25:21.82 and
Dylan Dew, who took 16
th place with a time of 25:34.73.
Lawrence also earned the GAC Elite Scholar Athlete distinction with a 4.0 GPA.
Cade Swindle and
Josh Tibbs both garnered the GAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete award for their academic performances.
The Tigers took fourth place overall with a score of 90 points. They placed behind the champions East Central, second-place Oklahoma Baptist and third-place Harding. Ouachita placed above Northwestern Oklahoma, Southern Arkansas, Southern Nazarene and Arkansas-Monticello respectively.
The Tigers will now be prepping for the 2023 NCAA Regionals which will be held on Saturday, November 4 in Joplin, Missouri.
