ARKADELPHIA – Oklahoma Baptist outlasted Ouachita 1-0 on Saturday in a matchup of the top two teams in the Great American Conference.
The game was played at Arkadelphia High School's Badger Stadium due to rain and unplayable field conditions at Ouachita's Kluck Field.
The loss drops Ouachita (8-2-7, 6-2-2 GAC) out of first place for the first time in more than a month, and moves Oklahoma Baptist (7-7-2, 6-2-2 GAC) into first place by just one point. The Tigers have one game remaining in the regular season. The Bison have two. The regular season champion hosts the conference tournament November 9-11.
The Bison came out as the aggressors in the first half with a 10-1 lead in total shots, but the Tigers flipped the script in the second half at 11-4. However, it was OKB's first-half goal by Alanna Bloomingdale in the 18th minute that was the difference in the outcome.
Ouachita was held to only one shot on frame in the game, but did have what would have been an equalizer goal taken away on an offsides call in the 68th minute.
The Tigers wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, November 1 at East Central. Ouachita has already clinched a berth into the GAC championship tournament.
