CLARKSVILLE, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist women's cross country team tied for first place at the University of the Ozarks Invitational on Saturday morning.
Ouachita scored 34 points, tying with Freed-Hardeman University for the first-place spot. FMU did take the slight edge in tiebreaker points to be listed first on the results.
Emelia Eriksson was the first Tiger across the line in the 5K race, finishing in fourth with a time of 18:59.6.
Multiple other Tigers placed high at the Ozarks Invitational.
Blair Turpen took fifth with a time of 19:27.4,
Collette Sneau finished ninth with a time of 20:04.5 and
Ellie Hoemann placed 10
th with a time of 20:07.5 to round out the Tigers in the top 10.
In total, Ouachita made up 14 of the top 25 runners.
As mentioned previously, Ouachita recorded 34 points, tying with FMU. Coming in third was the University of the Ozarks with 110 points. Fellow GAC member and cross-street rival Henderson State took fourth place with 119 points. HSU was followed by Philander Smith, National Park College, Williams Baptist and LeMoyne-Owen in places five through eight respectively.
The Tigers will now be preparing to defend their 2022 GAC title for the Great American Conference Championships that will take place on Saturday, October 21 in Russellville, Arkansas.
