TIGERS CRUSH CRUSADERS

ARKDELPHIA – 55 percent shooting and a plus-13 turnover margin helped lead the Ouachita men's basketball team to a 91-42 victory over the Crusaders of Dallas Christian College Tuesday night at Bill Vining Arena.
 
Ouachita (2-5, 0-2 GAC) started the game off slow, with Dallas Christian (1-8, 0-0 NCCAA) taking a small lead early. The Tigers retook the lead at the 14-minute mark and never looked back. A 20-3 run over the next five minutes put the Tigers on top 23-10 with just under nine minutes left in the half. Ouachita's lead hit the 20-point mark with 1:41 left. The Tigers went into the halftime break leading 41-21 over the Crusaders.
 
The Tigers held the Crusaders to just 30 percent shooting in the second half while extending their lead from the start. Ouachita's lead hit 30 points at the 14:36 mark on a Reggie Martin three and reached 40 points on another jumper from Martin with 8:50 left in the game. The Tigers' largest lead of the night came with 1:55 left in the contest on a Ryan Harris three-pointer that put Ouachita up by 52 points. DCC made one more shot before the buzzer and brought about the final score of 92-41.
 
Tonight's 49-point win was the Tigers' largest win margin since November 2012 when Ouachita beat Champion Baptist by 65 points with a score of 108-43.
 
The Tigers held Dallas Christian to just 28.6 percent shooting, which is the lowest Ouachita has held an opponent since Baptist Bible shot 28.4 percent in November 2014 in a 97-50 Tiger win.
 
The 23 turnovers forced by the Tigers were the most in a game since also forcing 23 against Champion Christian in December of 2021.
 
Terran Williams and Reggie Martin tied for the scoring lead tonight with 16 points each. Williams scored his 16 on 6-8 shooting that included 4-6 from three-point range. Martin went 7-11 and 2-4 from long distance to reach his 16 points.
 
Tylar Haynes was next with 14 points and led the Tigers in rebounding with seven. MJ Leslie recorded 10 points to round out the Tigers in double figures.
 
Kobe Dunlap handed out a career-high six assists to lead all passers.
 
The Tigers will look to keep up the momentum as they head to Magnolia, Arkansas to take on the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas University on Saturday, December 9 at 3 p.m.
