MILLER SHINES IN SENIOR DAY WIN

ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University women's basketball team closed the regular season with an 81-62 win over Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday afternoon in senior Makayla Miller's final home game.

Miller helped the Tigers (14-12, 11-11 GAC) earn the win by leading the team in five different categories. She tied Laney Mears and Abbey Harrison for the lead in points with 19 each, and tied Harrison for the lead in rebounds with six each. Miller held the solo lead in assists (five) and steals (five). The Little Rock native also hit a career high 11 free throws on 15 attempts.

After a tightly-contested first period, the Tigers began separating themselves in the second period, starting the frame on an 8-0 run, including a pair of three-pointers by Mears, to take a double-digit lead. UAM (9-19, 6-16 GAC) rallied to cut the margin down to single digits heading into halftime, but the Tigers came out with its best offensive performance of the game in the third period, outscoring the Blossoms 25-17 in the frame.

The Tigers finished right at 50 percent shooting for the game (23-for-46), and scored just over 35 percent of their points at the free throw line, connecting on 29-of-39 shots at the stripe.

In addition to Miller, Mears, and Harrison's 19 points each, Heidi Robinson also reached double-digits with 13, while adding five rebounds to her final totals.

Ouachita had its best game of the season in the turnover category, only giving away the ball 11 times on miscues.

Depending on the outcome of Saturday night's game between Oklahoma Baptist and East Central, the Tigers will either be the No. 5 or No. 6 seed in next week's Great American Conference Championship Tournament in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
