ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University women's tennis team took the short trip across the street on Friday to face Henderson State in a non-conference match resulting in a 7-0 win for the Reddies.
The Tigers (2-8) battled in doubles with a 6-2 win in third position from
Taylor Hansard and
Shelly Davilus and a hard-fought 6-4 loss in second position from
Olivia Gaston and
Clarisa Valenzuela.
Although HSU (5-3) earned all the singles points, Ouachita had close matchups from
Ali May in third position, forcing a tiebreaker, and Hansard in sixth position forcing an extra point in the first set and getting four set wins in the second.
Shelly Davilus also had a good fight in the seventh line, forcing a tie breaker in an exhibition matchup.
Ouachita opens Great American Conference play next Thursday, March 16 on the road against Arkansas Tech.
