SHAWNEE, Oklahoma – Ouachita Baptist University men's basketball senior
Ma'Darius Hobson has been selected to the 2023 Great American Conference All-Tournament Team for his performances in the Tigers' games.
Hobson played a crucial role in the eight-seed Tigers' upset win over one-seed Southern Nazarene. In that quarterfinal matchup, Hobson put up a near career-high 27 points on 11-17 shooting, including shooting 3-4 from three-point range. He played lights out in the upset, making difficult shots from all over the court. Hobson also grabbed seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win that sent the Tigers to the GAC Semifinals. In the semifinal game against Arkansas Tech, Hobson was once again the leading scorer for the Tigers, this time putting up 19 points, six rebounds and two assists in the Tigers' loss. Hobson is the first Tiger named to the GAC All-Tournament team since Lakee Westbrook in the 2017 GAC Tournament.
Hobson finishes his Ouachita career ranked ninth all-time in career steals with 98 and was just three steals shy of cracking the top 10 single season steal list with 47. Hobson has been a top-two scorer in each of his three seasons with the Tigers, including leading the team in scoring in the 2021-22 campaign.
