ARKADELPHIA – One of the top student-run broadcast crews in all of small college athletics is back in action this week with the Ouachita Sports Digital Network going live on Sunday, September 3 for a women's soccer game.
Sunday's women's soccer game at home against Southwest Baptist is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at Kluck Field. The OSDN crew will broadcast the game live on YouTube for free in what will be the first of more than 100 games and events to cover for the upcoming season. The broadcasts can be accessed at
www.OBUtigers.com/coverage or
www.OSDN.live.
The OSDN crew broadcasts nearly all of Ouachita home contests in football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, as well as select events for swimming & diving and wrestling. The crew provides a multiple-camera, high-definition broadcast of the games along with graphics and play-by-play commentary.
Student directors for the 2023-24 year are Chase Hartsell and Chloe Veuleman. Hartsell along with Chris Gay will provide much of the play-by-play this season. The rest of the crew mostly consists of students enrolled in Ouachita's communications and media program, which includes an emphasis in sports media.
"I'm proud of the work our students do and look forward to seeing what this year of broadcasts holds," said OSDN faculty advisor Chris Babb. "We're thankful for our partnership with the Ouachita athletic department that allows our students many opportunities to get practical experience in every aspect of live sports production as soon as they step on campus as freshmen. A student who is involved in OSDN for four years would have the opportunity to work almost 500 live broadcasts which could really help when searching for jobs upon graduation."
"Not many colleges and universities at our level are fortunate enough to have a production like we do with the OSDN," said Ouachita Director of Athletics David Sharp. "These students give us a big-time broadcast at a small-school level."
