TAHLEQUAH, Oklahoma – Jamie Fowler's penalty-kick goal in the 73rd minute of Friday's season-opening game on the road against Northeastern State allowed the Tigers to escape with a 1-1 draw against the Riverhawks.
It was Fowler's 18th career goal as she begins her sixth year with the Tigers.
The Riverhawks ended up with an advantage in nearly every stat category except for goals. NSU held an 11-8 lead in total shots, a 7-4 lead in shots on goal, and an 8-4 lead in corner kicks.
Fowler scored the goal on her only shot in 30 minutes of playing time off the bench.

Despite giving up the NSU goal in the 16th minute,
Michele Snow ended up with six total saves in a complete game effort between the posts.
The Tigers return to Arkadelphia for their next two games, starting this Sunday against Southwest Baptist. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Kluck Field.
