NASHVILLE, Tennessee – The Ouachita Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams showed out in Music City, with the Men placing second and the women taking third place in the Trevecca Nazarene Invitational; beating out several Division I programs in the process.
The men's team finished in second place, ahead of five Division I programs, including Lipscomb University, Jacksonville, and Austin Peay. only behind the University of Central Arkansas.
The top runner for the Tiger men in the 8K race was Freshman Noah Embry with a time of 25:39.4 and a 10th place finish.
Tigers finishing in the top 25 were:
Dylan Dew in 14
th (25:47.9),
Whit Lawrence in 17th (26:10.7),
Cade Swindle in 18th (26:10.9),
Lawson Sanders in 19th (26:17.2),
Gabriel Greenwich in 21st (26:24.0),
Elias Found in 24th (26:35.2), and Jaelen Beecho in 25th (26:35.2).
The men recorded 51 points in the race, finishing behind UCA with 38 points. Lipscomb placed third with 62 points and Jacksonville University came in fourth with 109 points.
The women's team took third place at this weekend's meet, finishing ahead of four Division I programs and one DII program. The Tiger women were only behind UCA and Lipscomb in the team scores.
The top runner for the women in the 5K race was
Macie Cash who took 10th place with a time of 18:31.4.
Other Tigers finishing in the top 25 were:
Elise Knight in 17th (19:09.5),
Jaci McGregor in 21st (19:22.8),
Taylor Koeth in 22 nd (19:23.5),
Megan Monk in 23 rd (19:24:4) and
Lucy Holden in 24 th (19:25.2).
The Ouachita women scored 67 points in the race to take third. UCA had 31 points in first and Lipscomb had 38 points in second place. Trevecca Nazarene was in fourth with 127 points and Jacksonville placed fifth with 155 points.
The Tiger Cross Country teams have a week of rest before heading up to the Hill to take part in the Chili Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas on Friday, September 29.
