ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita men's soccer team turned in its second consecutive Great American Conference/Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association draw with a 4-4 final result against Newman on Saturday at home.
After Newman (2-4-3, 1-2-1 GAC/MIAA) took a 2-1 lead into the halftime break, the two squads combined for five goals in the second half, four coming in the final 10 minutes.
Marshall Prather led the Tigers (0-6-3, 0-1-2 GAC/MIAA) with his first multi-goal game of his career. He found the net in the 22nd minute in the first half and again in the 54th minute in the second for his second and third goals of the season and third and fourth of his career.
Ebon Jordan found the net for the second straight game after a two-goal outing on Thursday against Fort Hays State. Saturday's goal came in the 79th minute assisted by
Daniel Marcano.
Marcano was responsible for Ouachita's final goal of the game, which was the first of his career, coming in the 85th minute. That gave the Tigers a 4-3 lead, but the Jets found the net again with 33 seconds remaining in the game to finalize the scoring.
In addition to Marcano's assist on Jordan's goal,
Grant Isbell, and
Zebastian Rios also earned assists in the game.
Newman held a 28-14 advantage in total shots and an 11-8 margin in shots on goal.
The Tigers close out their current six-game homestand next Thursday, October 5 against Rogers State. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Kluck Field.
