WEATHERFORD, Oklahoma – The Ouachita women's soccer team put the finishing touches on a six-point week with a 2-1 road win over defending conference champion Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday.
With the win, the Tigers move to 5-0-4 overall and 2-0-1 in Great American Conference games and currently hold a three-point lead for first place in the league standings. SWOSU drops to 1-7-2 overall and 1-2-1 in GAC games.
Ouachita struck first in Saturday's game with a goal from
Gracen Turner, her second of the season, in the 34th minute on the assist from
Isabella Savattere. It was Turner's 12th career goal at Ouachita.
Following a 1-0 lead for the Tigers at halftime, the Bulldogs equalized the score by finding the net in 57th minute.
The game-winner for the Tigers came in the 66th minute from
Jamie Fowler, her team-leading fourth of the season, with Savattere again earning the assist. It was Fowler's 20th career goal at Ouachita and seventh career game-winning goal.
Savattere now has three assists this season during her freshman campaign.
Michele Snow collected six saves in her compete-game between the posts. It was her 30th career win.
The final stats were even with both teams collecting 16 shots. SWOSU led 7-6 in shots on frame.
Ouachita is back at home next Wednesday, October 4 to take on Oklahoma Baptist. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Kluck Field.
