ALVA, Oklahoma – The Ouachita men's basketball team dropped its road matchup with the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State by the score of 68-52 Thursday night.
It was a slow start for Ouachita (4-8, 2-5 GAC) as Northwestern Oklahoma (6-7, 4-3 GAC) got out to an 8-0 lead over the first five minutes of the contest. The Rangers pushed their lead out to double digits over the next 10 minutes before the Tigers began to mount a comeback. Ouachita cut NWOSU's lead down to just two points twice within the final five minutes of the first half, but it was not enough, and Northwestern took a six-point, 28-22 lead into halftime.
The Tigers came out swinging in the second half, bringing the game within three points to open final 20 minutes. But the Rangers found their own rhythm, pushing their lead out to double digits again and holding onto that lead until the final buzzer with the Tigers falling by the score of 68-52.
Ouachita was led by
Tylar Haynes who picked up his second double-double of the season, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Emorie Knox was next in scoring with 16 points to close out the Tigers in double figures.
The Tigers will look to bounce back on Saturday, January 13 against the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
