ALVA, Oklahoma – The Ouachita women's basketball team took on its second straight nationally-ranked opponent on Thursday night, this time resulting in a 67-49 loss on the road to No. 12 Northwestern Oklahoma State.
The Tigers (6-5, 4-3 GAC) dug a deep hole in the first half, held to just six points in the first period and five in the second to allow the Rangers (14-1, 6-1 GAC) to take a 37-11 lead into the locker room at halftime.
NWOSU used above 50 percent shooting to maintain a large margin throughout the contest. Ouachita rallied for 27 points in the fourth period to cut what was once a 37-point deficit down to the final 18-point difference.
As a team, Ouachita was held to 33 percent shooting from the field and just four made three-pointers on 24 attempts.
Madeleine Tipton was the top scorer for the Tigers and tied for the game-high with 17 points.
Ouachita continues its road trip to the Sooner State with a Saturday afternoon game in Weatherford against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
