ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita wrestling team opened the 2024 portion of its schedule with a 29-17 dual victory over Carl Albert State at home on Wednesday night.
The Tigers won nine of 14 total bouts of the night, six of those wins earning dual points.
Brooks Schrimsher's pin of Carl Albert's Trey Hudgens in 2:51 during the 197 bout highlighted the night. Other big wins including major decisions for
Hudson Herring in the 141 and
Jaylon Otero in the 157.
Other winners for the Tigers included
Donald Paul with a 5-1 decision in the 285 and
Hayden Flaherty and
Sam Schmidt earning wins by forfeit in the 125 and 165 matchups, respectively.
In exhibition bouts,
Hayden Flaherty and
Caleb Andrews each earned wins by fall, while
RJ Hild earned a win by tech fall.
Donald Paul was honored prior to the dual as Ouachita's lone senior. The Tigers are on the road for the remainder of the season.
The Tigers are back in action this Saturday, January 20 in Kearney, Nebraska at the Loper Dual Tournament.
