ARKADELPHIA – A lop-sided third period was the difference in the outcome of Saturday's Great American Conference game between Ouachita and Southern Nazarene with the seventh-ranked Crimson Storm coming away with a 75-59 victory at Bill Vining Arena.
After a slim 32-27 lead at the halftime break, SNU (12-0, 6-0 GAC) separated itself in the third period by outscoring Ouachita (6-4, 4-2 GAC) 26-10 during the frame. The Tigers were never able to climb back in the game despite outscoring the Storm 22-17 in the final 10 minutes.
Both teams nailed 23 total field goals in the game, but SNU's 10 made three-pointers to Ouachita's three also made a difference in the outcome.
Grayson Fairless led the Tigers with 13 points and six rebounds.
Micah Russell added 10 points, which is a season-high for the freshman.
The Tigers are on the road next week to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday, January 11 and Southwestern Oklahoma State the following Saturday.
