ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita women's soccer team bounced back from its first conference loss of the season with a 3-1 victory over East Central on Saturday at home.
Saturday's win for the purple Tigers (5-5-2, 4-1-2 GAC) also completed the season sweep over the orange Tigers (3-9-1, 2-4-1 GAC) with a 2-1 win in Ada winning in Ada on September 28 by a 2-1 score.
After a slow start by both teams, Ouachita found the net first with a baseline cross from
Jorden Nelson to find
Teagan Jaussi at the left post for the tap in goal in the 35th minute. It was Jaussi's third goal of the season and Nelson's first assist.
The offense found a rhythm midway through the second half with a goal in the 67th minute by
Reese Brown after a shot from
McKenna Wright was spilled out by the ECU goalkeeper.
Wright added two more points with a breakaway goal in the 70th minute, her third of the season.
With most of the Ouachita starters on the sidelines, ECU avoided a shutout with a goal in the 85th minute.
ECU led 12-11 in total shots and 8-4 in corner kicks. Ouachita led 6-4 in shots on frame.
Ouachita is back on the road this Wednesday to take on Oklahoma Baptist.
