ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita men's soccer team opened a five-game homestand on Saturday with a 4-1 loss to 19th-ranked Southern Nazarene at Kluck Field.
The Tigers (2-6-1, 0-3 GAC/MIAA) hung with nationally-ranked Crimson Storm (6-3-1, 3-1 GAC/MIAA) until a barrage of SNU offense hit hard midway through the second half.
SNU scored first in the 27th minute for the only goal of the first half. At the break, SNU lead Ouachita 6-4 in total shots, but just 2-1 in shots on frame.
Ouachita's
Alexis Murillo scored the equalizer in the 50th minute on a direct corner kick from the left side. It was his team-high third goal of the season and second direct corner kick goal of the year.
SNU came on strong in the second half with a 13-3 lead in total shots, including a 6-2 margin in shots on frame. Three of those found the net, all coming within four minutes of each other from the 66th minute to the 70th minute.
The Tigers are back at home twice this week, hosting Fort Hays State Thursday at 3 p.m. and Newman on Saturday at 1 p.m.
