TIGERS STAY PUT IN RANKINGS

ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University football team held on to its national and regional rankings from last week following a 55-0 road win over Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.

The Tigers are No. 9 in the American Football Coaches Association Top 25 poll, No. 12 in the D2Football.com Top 25, and No. 5 in the NCAA Super Region 3 rankings.

Ouachita has now been nationally-ranked by the AFCA in 74 of the last 75 polls. The Tigers are one of three teams representing the Great American Conference in this week's national rankings. Harding is No. 4 in the AFCA poll and No. 5 by D2Football.com. Southern Arkansas is receiving votes this week in the AFCA poll.

The rest of the SR3 top 10 this week includes No. 1 Ferris State, No. 2 Grand Valley State, No. 3 Pittsburg State, No. 4 Central Oklahoma, No. 6 Harding, No. 7 Indianapolis, No. 8 Fort Hays State, No. 9 Central Missouri, and No. 10 Saginaw Valley State.

The Tigers likely need to win their regular season finale this Saturday, November 16 to make the NCAA Division II tournament, which would be the sixth playoffs appearance for the program. The top seven in SR3 make the playoffs. The No. 1 seed gets a first-round bye. Seeds 2-4 host first-round matchups.

The only team left on the schedule for the regular season is cross-street rival Henderson State. The Tigers make the walk across Highway 67 this Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff against the Reddies at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium. Some promotional materials distributed in the summer have a 2 p.m. kickoff, but HSU made the switch to align with the rest of its afternoon home games. Ouachita is 9-1 and tied for first in the Great American Conference. HSU is 8-2. More information about Saturday's game will be released throughout the week.
