CLEVELAND, Mississippi – The Ouachita women's swimming and diving team placed fourth at the 2024 New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships that took place at Delta State University over the past week.
The Tigershark women tallied 460 points over the course of the five-day championships, falling just 18 points out of third place.
Keilee Holcomb broke the school record in the 200 Freestyle twice over the course of the meet, breaking it the first time with the time of 1:51.96 in her leg of the 800 Free Relay. This record was last set in 2014. Holcomb broke her own record again in the 200 Free Finals with a time of 1:51.28 that resulted in a fourth-place finish.
Several Tigersharks earned top-five podium finishes during the championships.
Didi Christenson took fourth in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 55.32.
Anna Phelps placed fourth in the 1650 Free with a time of 17:41.33. Phelps also finished fifth in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:25.37,
The 800 Free Relay squad of Holcomb,
Kate McCown, Phelps, and
Elise Henderson took third in the event with a time of 7:45.08.
The 200 Free Relay team of Christenson, Holcomb,
Rachel Del Angel, and
Erin Russo finished fourth with a time of 1:37.23.
The 400 Free Relay team of Holcomb, Christenson, Del Angel, and Russo placed fifth in the event with a time of 3:35.01.
The 400 Medley Relay squad of
Jameson Tankersley,
Kaylee Stika, Phelps, and Henderson finished fifth with a time of 4:01.71.
The Tigersharks as a team wrap up their season with five dual meet wins, including three against cross-street rival Henderson State. The Red Wave was ranked No. 23 when Ouachita beat them on October 27.
Individual Tigersharks will be waiting to see if their times this season qualify them for the 2024 NCAA DII Championships that will take place in Geneva, Ohio and begin on March 12 and run through March16.
