WOMEN TAKE SECOND AT DELTA STATE SHOOTOUT

CLEVELAND, Mississippi – The Tigershark women placed second out of three teams at the Statesmen Shootout meets hosted by No. 12 Delta State over the weekend.

The format for these meets was different from normal. First, swimmers raced in the prelims. From there, the top swimmer from each school moved onto the "A" final in a head-to-head race. Then, the next four swimmers raced in the "B" Final and the next six raced in the "C" Final.

Meet One – Friday
Keilee Holcomb won the "A" Final for the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:52.61, which meets NCAA B standards for the 200 Free, meaning Holcomb will be in consideration for an invitation to the national championships.

Multiple other Tigersharks found themselves at the top of the "B" and "C" Finals, but No. 12 Delta took the win in the first meet by the score of 507-346.

Meet Two – Saturday
Holcomb again found herself at the top of an "A" Final, winning the 400 IM by a margin of almost five seconds with a time of 4:31.97, which would have ranked in the top eight in the NSISC last season. Her and multiple other Tigersharks also continuously placed high in the "B" and "C" Finals throughout the second meet.

Saturday's meet featured three teams on the women's side, with the Tigersharks taking second place with 299 points, beating Meridian Community College, which had 14 points, but falling short of No. 12 Delta State with 476 points.

The Tigersharks will be back in action at the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships that are set to take place from Tuesday, February 20 through Saturday, February 24 in Cleveland, Mississippi.
