TOPEKA, Kansas – The No. 21 Ouachita men's tennis team opened up its weekend trip in the midwest on Saturday with a 4-3 loss to No. 5 Washburn.
The fifth-ranked Ichabods represented the highest-ranked opponent for the Tigers this season.
Washburn took the early lead with wins in first and second positions in doubles. In singles, Ouachita's Alex Blanchar and Phil Exner each won their respective ranked-vs.-ranked first and second position matchups, while Elias Lagger earned a win in sixth. Ramon Strassmann came up just short in a three-set battle in fourth position.
The Tigers are back in action on Sunday with a short trip over to Liberty, Missouri to take on William Jewell.
