ARKADELPHIA – Ouachita Baptist University football coach
Todd Knight has unveiled the 2024 schedule, which features five home games and three Thursday night games.
The season starts with two straight Thursday night games. The opener is at home this year on September 5 for a 7 p.m. kickoff against Southwestern Oklahoma State. That is followed by the longest road trip of the season the next Thursday, September 12 to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva.
Other home games include: Saturday, September 28 against Arkansas-Monticello at 6 p.m.; Saturday, October 12 against East Central for Homecoming at noon; Saturday, October 19 against Harding for a primetime matchup against the defending national champion at 7 p.m.; and Thursday, October 31 against Southern Nazarene for Senior Night at 6 p.m.
The regular season wraps up with a pair of road trips, including the shortest road trip in college football. The Tigers will walk across the street on November 16 to wrap up the regular season against Henderson State in the 97th Battle of the Ravine.
"We're excited about how the 2024 schedule shapes up," said Knight, who enters his 25th season leading his alma mater. "Since we play 11 straight weeks, playing on Thursday night allows our players the opportunity to get a little extra rest those weeks and have time to recover physically while staying on top of their academics. That and how the rest of the schedule looks gives us a great chance to be successful."
The Tigers carry a streak of 15 consecutive winning seasons into the 2024 campaign, which is the longest active streak among all college football teams in the state of Arkansas. Ouachita finished the 2023 season at 9-2, which was the ninth season in program history with at least nine victories.
