CLAREMORE, Oklahoma – Rogers State scored two second-half goals to defend its home field and beat the Ouachita women's soccer team by a final score of 2-1 on Thursday.
The Tigers opened the scoring in the 20th minute with the team's first goal of the season. A forward pass into the box from
Ava Dunagan found
Reese Brown for shot played into the net off a Hillcat defender. It was Brown's fourth career goal and Dunagan's first career assist.
The Hillcats scored the equalizer in the 61st minute with the go-ahead and eventual game-winner coming in the 68th minute.
Ouachita put together an offensive attack with three shots on frame in the final 15 minutes and a late surge with three corners coming in the final five minutes.
Despite the late rally by the Tigers on offense, RSU ended with a slight edge in total shots at 15-14. Ouachita, however, led in shots on frame 8-5.
The Tigers head back to Arkadelphia for a home game this Saturday, September 14 against Christian Brothers. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Kluck Field.
