ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita women's soccer team collected its first victory of the 2024 season by beating Christian Brothers on Saturday at home by a final score of 3-2.
CBU (0-3) started early with a goal in the seventh minute after a failed clearance on a corner kick set up an uncontested Buccaneer shot.

Hattie Gardner evened things up with her first goal of the season coming in the 21st minute after a forward pass from
Teagan Jaussi found Gardner for a shot just inside the box.
The Tigers (1-2) took a 2-1 lead with a goal from freshman
Tracey Smith in the final minute of the first half. Smith dribbled around a defender near the left corner of the box and then sent one past the CBU goalkeeper for her first collegiate score.
CBU's Ana Dutra evened the score early in the second half on a direct free kick goal in the middle of the field just outside the box following a Ouachita foul in the 51st minute.
The game-winner came in the 86th minute when Jaussi again sent a forward pass to the middle of the field just inside the box to Gardner, who fought to get a shot off which carried off a CBU defender and into the net.
Gardner's two goals in Saturday's win matches her 2023 season total for now four career scores. Jaussi now has three career assists.
The Tigers controlled on offense for the majority of the game with a final edge of 23-11 in total shots and a 9-2 lead in shots on frame. Ouachita ended with an 8-3 margin in corner kicks.
Ouachita is on the road this Wednesday, September 18 to take on UT-Tyler before returning to Kluck Field next Saturday to take on Texas Woman's.
