SHAWNEE, Oklahoma – The first half goal was much kinder than the second half for the Ouachita women's basketball team on Thursday night in what ended up being a 68-56 loss to Oklahoma Baptist on the road in Great American Conference action.
The Tigers shot 50 percent from the field in the first period and 47 percent in the second, which led to a seven-point lead at the halftime break.
In the second half, Ouachita was held to just three made shots in the third period and three in the fourth, while going eight minutes without scoring to allow the Bison to grab a lead early in the fourth period.
The Bison ran their lead out to as much as 16 points with 4:52 remaining in the game, which proved to be too much of a gap for the Tigers to overcome.
Audri Winfrey and
Madeleine Tipton tied for the team-lead in scoring with 14 points each.
Laney Mears and
Abbey Harrison tied at the top of the rebound category with seven each.
Ouachita stays in Oklahoma to take on Southern Nazarene on Saturday in Bethany. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
